TVtrippin.com is a website devoted to both television and travel, two things near and dear to my heart. I covered both during my decade-plus career at the Chicago Sun-Times.
When the newspaper offered staff buy outs earlier this year, I decided it was time to jump ship and leave my post as Sun-Times TV critic.
I’m still going to write about travel and television. I’m just going to do it on my own terms, for my own website. (Big props to Sun-Times alum Rex Chekal for helping make the site a reality. The guy is gifted. Holler if you want his contact info.)
So what can you expect at TVtrippin.com?
News, reviews and tidbits about any TV show — it’s all fair game. But you’ll probably notice the site skewing toward series filmed in Chicago. The city is where I was born, raised (western suburbs … Addison to be exact) and now live (West Loop … right across the river from my old office at the Sun-Times).
Any places are fair game, too, but the focus will be on travel that’s related to television. That might mean a story about visiting “Game of Thrones” filming locations in Northern Ireland or writing about “Mad Men”-inspired things to do in New York City this summer.
I want TVtrippin.com to be an engaging place that’s fun to hang around, find inspiration for a trip, read some stories you didn’t know you were looking for and weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section.
Thanks for making it this far. Hope you enjoy. Now go watch some TV or travel the world.
